Long Ago...
Ancient humans, elves, and dwarves clashed with the wild dragons. Their war dragged on for centuries, and eventually the smaller races banded together to join the war against the great dragons of old. This continued for a long time with no side gaining any ground, instead both sides' resources began to dwindle. Slowly the elves began to realize that this war with the dragons was a foolish one. Soon hostilities against the dragons were stopped, to see how the dragons would react. The elves hoped that the dragons would calm long enough for the discovery of a means of communication. Whereas many humans believed the dragons would simply continue their aggression and try to gain an upper hand. The dragons decided to do neither. They sent a representative to communicate with those who they had previously been fighting with, using magic and their minds to do so.
After long debates and negotiations...
An agreement was forged, hostilities between all races would be stopped. Since none of the races were confident that future generations would honor the agreement, two organizations were formed.
The first of these organizations...
Was The Order of the Bonded Dragons and Riders (which was later shortened to The Order of the Bonded). This group was charged with traveling throughout all the lands and enforcing the treaty. The Order of the Bonded were expected to remain politically neutral, and enforce the treaty.
The second organization...
Was The Magician's Guild. This group was responsible for much more than The Order of the Bonded. The Magician's Guild is expected to research, study, and further knowledge of magic and it's limitations. The Magician's Guild was also responsible for performing two key tasks: oversee the Order of The Bonded and to settle disputes between kingdoms peacefully. It was expected that the Order of the Bonded and The Magician's Guild would oversee each other and ensure neither were abusing their positions.

Not so long ago...
Around one thousand years ago a new organization was formed. The Brotherhood of the Scales. The Brotherhood of the Scales believed that there was no treaty - dragons had simply taken control over their human bonded counterparts and were plotting against everyone. The Brotherhood planted seeds of corruption in several of the Bonded, who then sought to use their power for more than what they had been allowed to for years.
The Order of the Bonded split...
The brotherhood of the Scales, twisted their evil view upon The Order of the Bonded which caused a civil war. After the new war started it caused both The Order and The Magician's Guild and The Order of the Bonded to essentially declare war against each other and The Brotherhood.
This lead to many brutal conflicts...
This new war left the entire Order of the Bonded decimated from the inside out. After the last of the Order was either decimated or converted, The Brotherhood took their fight to the Dragons. The war only became far bloodier than before. Great Dragons of Old despite the efforts of The Magician Guild were felled under the combined might of the Brotherhood. When the great dragons fell, they cursed the land.
The curses on the land...
Were fueled by the sheer raw power found in Dragon Blood. The ground soaked in the great fallen dragons blood were cursed for generations. Humans, Elves, and Dwarves alike were afflicted by the curses on the land. Some couldn't have children, some could. However; some of those children were not pure. The land became nothing but conflict. The Brotherhood believed themselves to be victorious, that the dragons were defeated.
Most who opposed the Brotherhood...
Were taken and forced to live in the heavily cursed land, where pain was what it was to exist. Living to where they were constantly experiencing pain like no other. Many had dire hopes that they would simply perish.

After the curse...
Started to lift from the land, natural magics started to return. It was at this time, that The Magicians Guild started to devote more resources to the fight against the Brotherhood once more. The efforts were small and slow, but slowly over time the resistance grew larger and stronger.
They thought it was over...
The Brotherhood seemed to be dismantled. They tore them apart from the inside out, like The Brotherhood did to The Order of the Bonded. The Magician Guild hoped healing could begin. It was a time known as The Great Sorrow, for all but one of Great Dragons were gone. They practically faded into memory after a time, as the last surviving Great Dragon was kept hidden and in secret. The Magician's Guild were the only ones in on the secret. But they held the belief that Dragons could be returned.
Then one day, a riddle was remembered...
This riddle "A place underground, above the clouds can be found. Careful who you take, for the Bond it might make" told of a place where dragon eggs were stashed, insurance for the survival of dragons, made by The Order of the Bonded a long time ago. It took centuries of searching by the world's greatest magicians, but eventually they succeeded.
Where the world was...
The Magician's Guild's attempt to restore the Order of the Bonded using the discovered eggs, was a slow process. In an effort to promote fairness, a location was picked away from any established kingdom or government. Offers were posted around the world of citizenship and land in this new place, as incentives to attract potential new Bonded candidates. Having no law or government would not do. To rectify this problem, the Magician's Guild offered a set of laws to govern the land until new leaderships could be established.
When the first few ships came to the land many were brought to help start settling the lands. One of the numerous ships held one individual who only went to rest after such long travel. It was on that night when an egg went missing. Alarms were set off at the Magician Guild and those protecting the eggs were set into a bit of a panic. After deliberation one was sent to seek out the egg tracing it with magic. When they came to where the 'egg' was, they found a very confused young elf, and a new born baby dragon. The two were taken to The Magicians Guild who were protecting the eggs. There it was Eirwen that took them in and started to guide them in what she could. Being the first Bonded pair, made them... the start of the new Order of the Bonded.

Where we're standing now...
War began once again, the Brotherhood was back and in full force. Quintus with his second lieutenant's Ireleth and Gallus attacked one of the egg transportation convoys. Not expecting an attack that particular convoy was sadly lost.
But now the Magician Guild knew that the brotherhood was still around and active. Thus begun the preparation to protect and defend every last egg and the newborn Loi with his Bonded Zoe. During this time of heavy protection, the last surviving Elder dragon-- Xar, helped raise and train the new hatchling.
As they worked in protection, more Dragons hatched thanks to their bondeds arriving. Despite being careful, some of the bondeds and their dragons were still being attacked despite the secrecy of their locations and whereabouts. This raised concern in the Magician Guild, how were they being tracked?
It wasn't until another month had gone by that the Magician Guild learned, how they were being found. The second Lieutenant Gallus, was not just a hybrid of their world. He was in fact a dragon from another dimension. He was forced through a ceremony, that changed him into a human form. That magic broke some of Gallus's natural magic, and hurt him every time he had to shift.
But learning he was from another dimension didn't solve the problem. It was Orena, who figured out exactly who Gallus was. The son of a leader of this other dimension, and when he grew, would possibly gain the family's power of soul manipulation. Making taking Gallus out a very high priority.
But, Orena met Gallus, not on a battle field. At the time, Gallus didn't know she was an enemy to the brother hood, for she had no scent of dragon on her, as Orena was not the Magician Guild member in charge of caring for the eggs or dragons, as that had befallen Eirwen.
It was at this meeting, Orena realized Gallus was very young. The time line of which he disappeared from his world, and ended in theirs, made him about three months old, despite the fact he looked fully grown. Something the ceremony forced upon his body at the time of it's use.
Orena learned quickly that, like their native tongue, Gallus didn't not speak, just in his native language, which was all clicks and whistles. Having spent time in that dimension, Orena thankfully understood the language. She spoke to Gallus, and quickly learned, he really was just a child. Tricked into this war, from Quintus having saved his life and put a magic contract on him in return. Gallus couldn't fight this contract, when he smelled an enemy, he had to attack.
Thus begun the research to save Gallus.
During the time of research, the Magician Guild, gathered all who were willing to help, take down a breeding facility of the Brotherhood. A fortress where they bred up strong dangerous mounts. Including the Shadowmanes. Another strong magical creature, that was bent on the destruction of the Dragons. So with the help of all who would, the Magician's guild attacked the breeding facility, not stopping until it was fully destroyed, thankfully the people had the power to destroy the opposing creatures that attacked them upon arrival.
It took awhile, but soon the Magician Guild had a plan, and a spell to help free Gallus. The spell only made him able to say no to the contract in certain conditions. But they couldn't remove it.
It was from the contract being changed, that led to a battle between Gallus and Quintus. The only way, for Gallus to be freed, was if Quintus freed him willingly, or one of them died.
The battle resulted in the death of Quintus, and Gallus gaining his freedom.
No longer a warrior of the brotherhood, Gallus started to help the Magician Guild as much as he could. And Orena, knowing the power Gallus could one day possess, started to train in general magic, in the hopes that he would be able to control the new magic when it came, if it ever did.
Freed, Gallus wasted no time in telling Orena about the Brotherhood main base. Knowing the location they knew it was time to prepare an assault, now that the secret location was given.
Tristian one evening felt a very powerful and unsettling magic. He knew better than to go to it, being a person of magic, he didn't know what it would do to him to get close to such a strong evil feeling magic. So he just stayed where he was, trying to study the magic from a distance. But it didn't last long, and it faded. He decided to tell the others in the morning.
Tristian took any who were willing to investigate the source of the magic, it was two that have fought beside the magician guild for a long time now, and Eirwen.
When they arrived to the location Tristian couldn't tell anything about the place, but Eirwen meditated and focused, her power having that ability. It took some time, and everyone on edge and expecting a fight, that Eirwen came out of her trance, admitted she wasn't sure what actually happened, but some sort of magic, in a twisted version of the Dragon ritual. This was worrisome, but they were left to retreat before being discovered. Sadly at the time of leaving, they only knew a couple of people died there, but who or what they were, was unknown.
Preparations to attack the brotherhood were underway, when Ireleth attacked an ally. The young dragon Loi had been there at the time, and ran off to go fetch a local healer. Ver was told about what was going on, and Loi went back with her.
Loi was attacked by Ireleth and her Shadowmane. When that happened the creatures of the home of their ally all attacked Ireleth. Ireleth fled the area, scattering the animals.
After the battle, they started to go back to Ver's, who was a good healer with supply at their home, so it was there those injured were taken. Among the injured was the young Loi.
During the procedure to help Loi, the small homestead ended up under attack, by a brotherhood member, with the name of Arat, or at least as far as the Magician Guild was aware that was their name. Arat ended up captured, and in the end Eirwen killed them.
A court case took place over the incident. And the judge's verdict was Not-Guilty.
After this Xar was captured by the Brotherhood. Eirwen meditated in her tower, to take down the brotherhoods barrier, to allow the forces to attack and save Xar.
After the retrieval of Xar, All there felt a powerful and dangerous magic. Unsure of what it was, they set to defend themselves at their small stronghold they built near the brotherhood base.
Then something else happened. Everyone could feel something happened at Eirwen's tower. Despite being weak, and exhausted, and unable to shift to his dragon form, Xar grabbed a random mount at the stronghold and rushed to the tower, along with the others.
Upon arrival Eirwen was unconscious, her ward weakened as well. Orena suspected it'd been another Deity, but no concrete evidence other than the sheer amount of magic used.
After this Eirwen was very different in personality. And it wasn't long before she and her mother left for another dimension. Neither having been seen again since.
Orena and Tristian have been the only deity's currently working at the Magician Guild and caring for Xar and the Bank that helped the people of Avalon.
With a farewell, and promise to return when she was done with her research, the Magician's Guild has been put under the care of Tristian. He's been doing all he can to keep everything functioning, and going smoothly for the people of Avalon. But something is weighing heavily upon him, and he wishes to find his mother to consult with her... But that would take time... Time he might not have to spare right now.
New comers to Avalon made friends with Gallus, and it was from this they got a visit from someone. A Deity, one that didn't share their name, but by the description Tristian narrowed it down to being possibly five different Deity's; Taira, Jitli, Porlen, Shelu, or Lhita.
However, to find out a Deity is helping the brotherhood worries Tristian immensely, and adds to his need to find and consult with his mother Orena, the true head of the Magician Guild.
